Mid-Century Modern Primary Bath
Bathroom suite addition for a SE Portland bungalow
Mid-Century Modern Primary Bathroom Suite
This original, drafty sleeping porch was being used as an auxiliary closet in this 1913 Bungalow in SE Portland. The only bathroom upstairs was a hall bath, not accessible from the master bedroom, so this was the perfect area to create the Primary Suite our clients always wanted.
The entire space was gutted and refurbished, including replacing the old windows, which now provide bird watching opportunities in the backyard. The tile shower, custom Shoji Screen-inspired shoe closet, walnut vanity with marble top, matte black and gold fixtures, and large black tiles on the floor add up to a spectacular mid-century vibe.
The shower and vanity wall, clad in an 8” white hexagon tile, felt expansive and was integrated by using the same material.
Wood tile on the back wall ties in nicely with the vanity and pebble shower floor, adding interest to the bath as a whole. Finally, large round mirrors and globe pendants add interest and symmetry to the vanity wall.
