If you are thinking of remodeling your Primary Bathroom and wondering what the best “splurge” items are, here are 3 to consider.

Heated floors:   We recommend and use Nuheat Floor Heating Systems which allow for programmable and non-programmable thermostat options. These easy-to-install electric heat mats can be used under a variety of flooring surfaces, giving you the flexibility to add extra warmth wherever you choose in your Primary bath.  This is especially nice here in the Pacific Northwest on those cold, rainy mornings.

Medicine Cabinets:   You can find a wide variety of medicine cabinets, available in many styles and price ranges.  We recommend Robern, a  luxury brand offering  many convenient, optional features.  For instance, you can specify built in electrical outlets, mirror defogging systems, lock boxes for medication, cold storage for your beauty products and even nightlights.  Worth every penny.

Tile Shower:  This upgrade not only is functional but aesthetic.  A tile shower, installed correctly, is a superior shower to prefabricated surrounds in many ways.  First, they are easier to clean and more durable in general.  We also use Epoxy grout which will not mold or mildew, making your shower virtually maintenance free.  When using tile, there are so many choices nowadays that are cost effective and beautiful.  A type of tile we often specify is large format porcelain tiles.  Because of their size (12×12, 18×18, 12×24, etc.), grout joints are minimized and their cost is around $5 per square foot.  You can add a more expensive glass tile or mosaic  accent to create more interest and bring in color.  Because of these reasons, we install tile showers in 99% of the Primary bathrooms we remodel.
